MyData Frequently Asked Questions

What is MyData?
MyData is a web-based reporting tool that provides student-level data to teachers and administrators to improve instruction, identify and provide interventions for at-risk students, monitor the performance of students, and inform other decisions. MyData contains student reports such as state test scores (CST, CELDT, CAHSEE), student grades, attendance, A-G coursework, periodic assessments, English Learner data, special education status, and more. Greater availability and usability of student data will allow LAUSD educators to differentiate their instruction to meet the individual learning needs of each student. Teachers will have access to classroom-level data, school-site administrators to school-level data, and local district and central office staff to District-level data.
When will my school have access to 'MyData'?
During the 2008-2009 pilot year, approximately ten teachers and administrators comprising the school’s leadership team at nearly 40 schools will have access to MyData . During the 2009-2010 school year, all teachers and administrators at the 40 schools will have access. All teachers and administrators at an additional 140 schools will also have access then. We are hoping to phase in MyData for the entire District no later than the 2011-2012 school year
How can I access 'MyData'?
MyData is available to LAUSD teachers, administrators, local district and central office staff. During its pilot year, 2008-2009, MyData users must complete a MyData access form. Current DSS (Decision Support System) users are able to access MyData without applying for a separate account.
How do I log in?
To access MyData once your account is set up, go to http://mydata.lausd.net . Log in using your Single Sign-On credentials (i.e., LAUSD e-mail username and password). One way to make sure your Single Sign-On is working is to log on to “Inside LAUSD” on the LAUSD homepage www.lausd.net .
Can I access 'MyData' from home?
Yes. MyData is accessible on the Internet from any Apple or PC. Supported browsers are Internet Explorer v.6 or 7, and Firefox v.2 for Windows users, Internet Explorer v.7 for Vista users, and Firefox v.2 for Apple users. Safari is not recommended.
How current is the data?
The latency of the data depends on the type of data it is. State test data is uploaded, for example, annually, while attendance data is uploaded daily. As we release future versions of MyData throughout 2009-2010, we are working to decrease the latency of the data.
How can I receive training on MyData?
The Central MyData team will schedule trainings for school-site leadership, Local District and Central District staff. Teachers will be able to access a web-based orientation once it is available. Check our website for updates.
What should I do if I see a mistake in my data? If you see a mistake in data that is collected at the school site (e.g., attendance, grades, SOAR data, EL data), the error may be a data entry error. Check with the person at your school who enters the data (e.g, teacher, coordinator, clerk). If you see an error in centrally-collected data such as CST scores, please contact the Central MyData team at mydata@lausd.net . If you see an error in Princeton Review data, please contact helpme@review.com .
